Infosys Fires Bengaluru Employee for Secretly Filming Woman in Office Washroom

In a disturbing incident at Infosys’ Electronics City campus in Bengaluru, a male employee was terminated after being caught secretly recording a woman colleague inside the office restroom.

The accused, identified as 28-year-old Swapnil Nagesh Mali, was working as a senior associate at the IT firm. The incident reportedly took place on June 30 and came to light after the victim filed a police complaint.

According to her statement, the woman noticed a strange reflection on the washroom door and soon saw a mobile phone emerging from an adjacent cubicle. Acting swiftly, she stood on the toilet seat to investigate and discovered Mali standing on the toilet in the next cubicle, allegedly attempting to record her. Reports suggest he had also removed his trousers during the act.

Shocked and alarmed, the woman rushed out and raised an alarm. Her colleagues quickly intervened and prevented the accused from escaping. The mobile phone used in the act was handed over to the HR department, where the victim witnessed the deletion of the videos.

Further investigation revealed that Mali’s phone contained over 30 objectionable clips, including a video of another Infosys employee and several adult videos downloaded from the internet.

Authorities seized a screenshot of the video in question as legal evidence before deleting the original files. Mali now faces charges under Section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Voyeurism) and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Infosys confirmed that the individual has been terminated with immediate effect.
